The Organ Pipe Cactus National Park became a preserve back in 1937. It is a natural habitat for the Organ Pipe Cactus and many other animals and plants that are native to the area. This is also a perfect place to stargazing as it gets unusually bright skies when the sun goes down. The Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument is placed about halfway into the preserve.

The Barringer crater occurred when a meteor left the earth’s atmosphere and landed near Winslow, Arizona. The person who found the giant crater was Daniel Barringer. He and his family still own and operate the property where it’s at. The hole is 4,100 feet wide and 570 feet deep. The crater is about 50,000 years old and was made by an asteroid that was about 130 feet wide. Most pieces of the cavity were made of iron and weighed about 1,000 pounds. Barringer Crater is another lovely place to visit in Arizona.

This incredible living space is a five-story home that was cut into the limestone cliffs around 1200 t0 1450 AD. There are twenty rooms inside the castle that were made of mud and clay mortar that are very well preserved. The name came from white settlers coming through the area that believed they had found the old home of the Aztecs. It’s not surprising considering the size and placement of the castle at around 100 feet above the canyon floor.

Havasu Falls is one of the most attractive places to visit Arizona. It has several waterfalls located on the Havasupai Indian Reservation. Havasu Falls is the most well known because the waterfall drops down 100 fees into a blue-green basin. The entire area is a blue-green color which comes from calcium carbonate that is located in the water. If you plan to visit it, it is a two to three-day hike out to the falls, so be prepared to camp out on the way.

Located on the edge of Arizona and Utah, Lake Powell is a reservoir that became so when the Glen Canyon Dam flooded in 1972. This is a man-made lake. After the flooding, the area was made into the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. It is a perfect place to go for the entire family during summer. There are places to go swimming, rent boats, fish and Jet Ski. It also serves as water for Colorado, and much of the reserves go to California and Nevada. The lake got its name from John Wesley Powell who explored there back in 1869.
